According to Angeli’s inventory, the entries nos 54 and 55 contain music by the same author indicated as ‘Todesco’ (‘the German’). The attribution to Clément Janequin is advanced on the basis of Inventory no. 54. A lost collection of motets by Janequin was published by Pierre Attaingnant in Paris in 1533 (see Carl F. Becker, Die Tonwerke des XVI. und XVII. Jahrhunderts oder systematisch-chronologische Zusammenstellung der in diesen zwei Jahrhunderten gedruckten Musikalien, Leipzig: Ernst Fleischer, 1855, col. 23).
