NOTES The manuscript originally comprised at least two masses. Content reduction probably occurred during the second half of the 18th century, when the manuscript was also rebound. The front cover and first sheet of the manuscript (probably an endpaper glued to the cover) were subsequently lost, depriving the opening Kyrie of its Cantus and Tenor parts.

During restoration (2015), what is now sheet 15 was detached from the back cover, enabling recovery of two parts (Cantus and Tenor) of a further 4-part Kyrie.

The highly acidic quality of the ink has caused widespread damage to the paper, producing what are sometimes significant lacunae. During restoration (2015), the various sheets of the manuscript were stabilized, with re-location of detached fragments.

A label on the back cover (outside) bears the annotation ‘15’, presumably stemming from an earlier numbering of the choir books.

A label on the first sheet (probably in the hand of Matteo Tosi) bears the annotation: ‘11 / Manca il frontespi=/zio e la prima pagina. / Messa a 4 voci disp. / di Ignoto’.
